You may be asking yourself, “What can I do to be a part of the effort to get an indoor velodrome in the Twin Cities?”
First and foremost… RACE! Nothing speaks volumes about the feasibility of a nice velodrome facility more than some numbers to back it up. In 2006, the NSC Thursday Night series averaged around 50 racers and 150 spectators. Around 40 season training passes were sold. Any effort to secure an improved or new facility needs RACERS and needs SPECTATORS. Check out the NSC Velodrome’s website, sign up for the introductory track class, and start showing up to train and race.
Secondly… send an email to tim@hedcycling.com or post a comment here, we’ll get your contact info and get you in the loop.
Lastly… any ideas you may have are worth hearing. Sure, we’ve thought of a lot of things, especially when it comes to logistics and funding. The more minds work on a given problem, the more we can focus on thinking “outside the box.”
